We understand that having a child is one of the most special times in a woman’s life,  Dr. Serrao is a highly skilled physician, who practices in a nurturing environment and first-class facilities so that you can experience the best pregnancy possible.

We specialize in obstetric care for both routine and high-risk pregnancies, providing peace of mind in case of unexpected problems during pregnancy.  Dr. Serrao provide s 24-hour coverage and has held active staff privileges at nationally recognized Florida Hospital and Winnie Palmer Hospital, which both have specially trained neonatologists and the highest level (Level III) neonatal intensive care unit.

Our OB Patient Coordinator will sit down with you and your family on your first visit to discuss what to expect during your pregnancy. The coordinator will explain what each prenatal visit includes, give you information on what you can and cannot eat, recommend beneficial books to read, and answer any questions you may have.  You will be given a new patient bag with gifts and educational materials. 

Pregnancy counseling is very important for a healthy baby. This process begins as soon as you come for your first visit.  Dr. Serrao will see you each visit, not a nurse practitioner, and he will deliver your baby.

Confirming your pregnancy: You’ve no doubt done home pregnancy tests. When you come in, Dr. Serrao will perform a professional pregnancy test and exam to confirm your pregnancy and establish a due date.

Planning your pregnancy: You will meet with Dr. Serrao in his private consultation room to outline your pregnancy and discuss what to expect. This is an excellent time to ask your questions, and the best time for the baby’s father to join you.

Ultrasounds: During your first ultrasound, you will have a chance to see your baby’s heartbeat and confirm the due date. At your next ultrasound, you will be able to see your baby’s development and the gender if you prefer.  All ultrasounds are performed by our experienced and licensed sonographer who is supervised by Dr. Serrao.   Some insurance carriers will only cover the initial ultrasound in the office and all of these benefits will be discussed with you by our insurance specialist in the office.  CD recordings and 3D/4D ultrasounds are available for a fee, please contact our billing office for more details.

Appointments: Initially, your appointments should be about four weeks apart. As your pregnancy progresses, your appointments should be closer together to prepare for your baby’s birth. These appointments are important as Dr. Serrao monitors your health and your baby’s health in your last trimester of pregnancy.  Certain blood work and testing will be done at different stages in your pregnancy to ensure your health and your baby’s well being.  You are always welcome to come in for an appointment, we will do our best to accommodate your needs. All visits schedules and tests are done according to the recommendations of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Dr. Serrao is also available if you are considering pregnancy.  We offer services in pre-pregnancy detox and cleansing in our wellness spa if you may be interested.
